Say hello to the new & improved Chilly Night Earwarmer! I re-vamped my first ever pattern to add a fun twist in the front for some extra flair. This earwarmer is super quick to whip up and is a great stash buster as well.
The instructions include sizing for preemie through adult sizing so there’s an earwarmer for everyone! The pattern is beginner-friendly using single crochet & popcorn stitches.
The ad free PDF is available on Etsy here.
Info:
Pattern can be adjusted for sizing by adding or removing 2 chains at a time. (i.e. 44 chains for a medium size and 42 chains for a smaller size.)
Stitch Abbreviations:
- Ch – chain
- st – stitch
- ch-sp – chain
- sc – single crochet
- dc – double crochet
- popcorn – 3dc in same st, drop loop, insert hook into first st from back to front of 3dc, pick up dropped loop and pull through.
- backwards popcorn – 3dc in same st, drop loop, insert hook in the first st from front to back, pick up dropped loop and pull through. (the only different is inserting your hook into the first st differently)

Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each st across. Ch1, turn.
Row 2: sc in each st across. Ch3, turn.
Row 3: in 2nd st from hook, work a popcorn st, ch1, skip next st, *popcorn in next st, ch1, skip next st*; repeat from * across until last st. Ch1, skip last st, dc in turning ch. Ch3, turn.
Row 4: backwards popcorn in 2nd ch-sp, ch1, *backwards popcorn in next ch-sp, ch1*; repeat from * across to end, ending with a backwards popcorn in the turning ch of the previous row. Ch1, turn.
Row 5: sc in first st and each st across to end; sc2 in turning ch. Ch1, turn.
Row 6: sc in first st and each st across to end, ending with a sc in turning ch. Cut & tie off, leaving a long tail.
Attaching: fold the ends of each side of the piece in half and overlap them as shown below – Once overlapped, use the long tail to sew the ends in through the folds to create the twisted look.
Adjustments:
To adjust the height/width of the piece, you can add rows of single crochet to the top & bottom, making sure to add an equal # of rows to each. Optionally, you can add a 3rd row of popcorn in the middle by repeating row 3 after row 4.
To adjust the circumference/fit of the piece you can add or subtract 2 chains at a time to the starting chain.
