I’ve been on a mission to make and create summer crochet patterns this year. As a maker, it’s a very empowering feeling knowing that you can see something you love and use it as inspiration to create something of your very own. A few weeks back I had an idea for an amazing crochet cropped tank and got right to making.

Pin for later!

I recently discovered WeCrochet yarns so of course I had to pick up a whole bunch to try out for this top. I ended up going with Brava Sport since it’s a great acrylic blend and created the perfect fabric for my new top idea. As a bonus to getting to work on a new and amazing pattern, I also got to try out a new stitch (which I quickly became obsessed with) – the modified sedge stitch!

I was actually so obsessed with this stitch that I made a tutorial on it. It’s just a simple single and double crochet in the same stitch but it creates a texture that looks so much more complex!

Yarn, crochet hook and crochet make with a cup of coffee on top of a blanket.

About the pattern:

This pattern is size inclusive and is made for womens sizes S-5X (bust sizes 34″-63″). The pattern also features straps that can be adjusted in length. The top is worked from side to side in two body panels and then seamed together.

Each size is written out separately so you can be sure you’re making the perfect size for you.

What you’ll need to crochet this top:

To start, you’ll need a sport weight 2 yarn. I chose to use WeCrochet Brava Sport but another sport weight or lighter DK weight yarn will do, just make sure to match the gauge. I used a 4.0mm hook for this pattern to meet gauge.

After that, you just need to grab some scissors & measuring tape. Depending on the size of your top, you’ll need between 345 and 765 yards. You can use the sizing chart below to get a better idea of the materials and size of the project.
