Welcome to the first post of the Fall 2021 Blog Hop. I am so excited to introduce this series and cannot wait to do it again next year. Fall is my favorite season and brings me SO much happiness so I wanted to share that with you all and the best way I could think of was to share some great crochet designers and shops. Throughout this series, I’ll showcase some great small yarn businesses and show off how they got started, what their business is all about and more!

My first guest of the series is Chanel of cbfiberworks! Chanel is a crocheter and provides free patterns, tips and more at cbfiberworks.com. I got to interview Chanel on how she got started crocheting, her favorite thing about the craft and some great information about her website.

Chanel was kind enough to offer her Popcorn Pumpkin Pattern PDF for FREE today only! (Sept. 21, 2021). Scroll down to grab the free pattern!

When did you get started crocheting? What inspired you or made you want to learn?

I learned to crochet in college while I was studying sculpture and I was immediately fascinated by the absolutely stunning amount of applications for crochet. When I got a look at Ruth Asawa’s crocheted wire sculptures, I knew I had to learn more. It wasn’t long before I was experimenting with various techniques and trying to replicate basic shapes.

What do you specialize in? Tell us more about your shop.

After some time making all the things, I settled into specializing in amigurumi, in part because I love the sculptural element. The other part comes from my love of animals and nature. I especially love making birds and reptiles, but I have all sorts of amigurumi animal patterns. On my blog, I provide great content for both hobbyists and professional makers in the form of free patterns, tips and tricks, guides, and yarn reviews (coming soon). While not all of my patterns are available for free, you can find all my patterns in my Etsy and Ravelry shops.

What is your favorite thing about the craft? Do you have a favorite stitch or technique?

My favorite thing about crochet is the endless possibilities. I don’t know if I have a favorite stitch, but right now I absolutely love experimenting with shaping through increases and decreases. My dream is to create a complex amigurumi that is completely no-sew.

Popcorn Pumpkin Pattern

This pattern is so adorable. I absolutely love the bobbles on this popcorn pumpkin. This is great for fall decor, markets and gifts. I personally love to spruce up my office set up this time of year and these pumpkins are absolutely perfect for that.

The pattern is beginner-friendly and has a row repeat that makes it super quick and easy to memorize and pump out as many as you like!

You can grab the pattern PDF for free today only (Sept. 21, 2021) HERE!

You can also check out the free version on her blog here year round.
