Spring is one of my all-time favorite seasons to crochet projects for. I decided to put together this list of spring crochet patterns that you can work up to have an amazing handmade wardrobe. Throughout this list, you’ll find garments such as tops and cardigans, as well as fun accessories to pair with them along with some outfit suggestions.

So many people think that fall and winter are the only “crochet” appropriate months. I like to believe that crochet is a year-round trend. There are so many versatile yarns and crochet patterns to fit every season of the year. Spring is one of my favorites because there are so many fun transitional pieces we wear in the springtime. Lightweight scarves make an appearance this time of year as well as fun headbands and beautiful bags.

What yarns are best for spring crochet patterns?

While you probably don’t want to go for the heaviest or thickest wool you can find, there are so many yarns that work great for springtime transitional pieces. Yarns with cotton and bamboo are a solid choice, as well as some acrylic yarns. Personal favorites of mine in the past have been Lion Brand Truboo and WeCrochet Dishie.

If you’re looking out for new yarn to try in the store for spring, keep those types of fabrics in mind as well as the feel of the yarn. You want a yarn that will last but also that has a pretty drape. You won’t want anything that is ultra sturdy or stiff as this won’t provide a good drape for a garment. The only time that advice wouldn’t apply is if you need a sturdy yarn for something like a bag or purse.

Lastly, you’ll want to pay attention to the weight of the yarn. I’d recommend anywhere from weight 1 through weight 4 for a springtime project. These will help keep your pieces more lightweight and breathable for warmer weather.

Spring Yarn Suggestions

Here are some great suggestions from Lion Brand. I also love shopping from WeCrochet as they have an extensive variety to choose from.

Spring Accessory Patterns

Accessories are probably one of the most fun parts of spring outfits. There are so many accessories that get brought out for spring like headbands, bandannas, fun bags, and more!

Tara Headband

This headband is super cute for spring and is made using just slip stitches and chains so it's also beginner-friendly. Just a few hours is all it takes to whip this up and add to your spring wardrobe!

Barley Bandana

Bandanas are a great way to accessorize for spring. You can use these to tie around your hair like a headband or around your neck. This would be a super cute look to wear in the garden this spring or while running casual errands. You could pair these with some cute denim overalls or a classic white t shirt and jeans.

Lindy Lace Cowl

Cowls and scarves are always a great addition to a spring outfit. I absolutely love the lacy look of this pattern as it provides a breathable fabric that's lightweight to wear with so many different outfits.

Newsboy Cap

Hats are another amazing accessory to crochet in the spring. I love this newsboy cap and the brim it has. This would add an extra flair to almost any outfit. I can imagine this paired with a casual t shirt and jeans as well as a cute t shirt dress with sandals.

Triangle Shawl

Shawls are so versatile and an easy way to dress up for spring. Crochet shawls have such intricate lace pattern options and this triangle shawl truly shows that off. Wearing these over spring dresses is the perfect way to fend off any remaining cold while dressing up an outfit.

Crochet Spring Tops

I'll admit - this is probably my favorite category of spring crochet pattern. I absolutely love crocheting tops and the spring options are just so beautiful. Many include fun open lace designs and are lightweight and flowy. These are often great for layering or wearing alone.

Ember V Neck

I absolutely love lace stitching (as I'm sure you can tell from this post). Anything breezy always catches my eye for spring because it provides coverage and breath-ability at the same time. This v neck is a favorite in my closet for that reason. It has long sleeves but a v-stitch design making it so breathable and cute to layer.

Womens Vest

I was most excited to have this pattern as part of this round-up! Crochet vests are so popular right now and wearing these as tops is so perfect for spring. These are so versatile, they can be worn casually or in a more professional setting. Another fun way to wear these is to pair them with a sheer long-sleeve lace top.

Marley Lace Top

The criss-cross lace design of this top is stunning. I absolutely love tops with fun lace designs for spring as they're more breathable and perfect for the changing weather.

Summer Vacation Top

Another beautiful lace design in a spring top, this one from Mama in a Stitch. While the title does say "summer", this is an amazing spring transitional piece. Super breathable design and absolutely stunning to wear with jeans, a short, or a breezy skirt.

Spring Sweaters and Cardigans

Okay, probably my second favorite category (no offense accessories), is sweaters and cardigans. I absolutely LOVE being cozy and any type of sweater is sure to do the trick. Spring sweaters and cardigans are also super fun because they often have a lighter or lacier design that's super fun.

Floral Garden Cardigan

This cardigan is one of my first designs ever and it still stands the test of time. Every spring, this pattern shoots up in popularity and I love seeing the love people have for it. It's a super lacy design, so breathable for warm weather, and is made all in one piece.

Sparsh Poncho

While this isn't technically a cardigan - I consider poncho's a form of sweater. And I love how versatile they are for spring because you can throw them over an outfit just like a cardigan. The fuzzy look of this poncho caught my eye immediately and the button detail is so cute.

Easy Crochet Shrug

This adorable shrug is the perfect mini-cardigan style to wear for spring. Shrugs are beautiful paired with so many outfits. For casual days I love simple tank tops with a good pair of jeans and a shrug on top. For dressier days, a cute sundress and shrug is the perfect outfit.
