Looking for a super easy stitch with lovely texture? Look no further than the trinity stitch! This is a great alternative to the star stitch and is even beginner friendly.

This stitch uses a variation of single crochet. I love the texture this stitch creates and how quickly it works up. This would be a great stitch to crochet a blanket with and I actually am looking into buying some extra squishy yarn to do just that!

I recently used the trinity stitch for my Floria Top and it worked up so amazingly. It’s definitely a unique stitch that is so versatile. It can be worked flat or in the round and can easily make up beautiful garments or cozy blankets and even home decor items!

Materials:

In this tutorial I am using Lion Brand’s Comfy Cotton Blend Yarn and my Rose Gold Odyssey hook from Furls Crochet in a size 6.00mm. I recommend using a worsted weight yarn if you are learning this for the first time and the correct hook size for that yarn.

Furls Crochet Odyssey Hooks

Instructions:

Start out by chaining multiples of two and then adding two chains at the end (becomes your turning chain).

Step 1 (Row 1): In the 2nd chain from your hook, work a single crochet. Going into the same space as your single crochet, pull up a loop, then pull up a loop in each of the next two chains. You should now have 4 loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through all 4 loops then chain 1. (I recommend chaining loosely for the chain 1 since you will need to work into this space in row 2). *Pull up a loop in the same space you just worked in and in each of the next two chains then loosely chain 1*; repeat this process until the last 2 chains. Once you reach the last two chains, pull up a loop in the same space you worked in last and in each of the next two chains. Do not chain 1. Single crochet in the same space as your last worked trinity stitch. Chain 1 and turn.

Step 2 (Row 2): Working into the single crochet from row 1 work a single crochet. Pull up a loop in the same space and in each of the next two stitches then loosely chain 1. *Pull up a loop in the same stitch and each of the next two stitches then loosely chain 1*; repeat this process until the last 2 stitches. Once you reach the last two stitches, pull up a loop in the same stitch and each of the next two stitches. Do not chain 1. Single crochet in the same stitch. Chain 1 and turn.

Step 3 (Rows 3 – end): Continue repeating Step 2 as many times as you need to reach your desired measurements.

That’s it! Follow these simple steps and you’re on your way to creating beautiful crochet projects using the trinity stitch.
